According to Wikipedia Adoption is
a process whereby a person assumes the parenting of another, usually a child, from that person’s biological or legal parent or parents, and, in so doing, permanently transfers all rights and responsibilities, along with filiation, from the biological parent or parents. This process could take a long time going through court.
According to some RVA moms of adoption it is the gift of growing their family. It is the gift of healing the broken heart of miscarriage and loss. It is meeting the daughter they dreamed of knowing. It is family.
Amy Reamer was already a mom to two fantastic boys when they decided to adopt a daughter. It’s a privilege to hold the pain, hurt and loss that comes with Adoption – there is joy of course but we can never forget there are pages in their story, sometimes chapters that didn’t include us – honor and treasure that no matter what age they join your family. The entire story is important not just the chapters that started with you.
When Diana Parra and her husband entered their adoption journey, they had already endured multiple miscarriages and longed for children to join their family. They are both from Columbia originally and decided to adopt from the home country. They also hoped to adopt siblings. When their children came home they were ages 3, 5, and 7 years old.
Love allows us to grow together. It builds an unbreakable bond. It heals our hearts.
